Faith Based Outreach
IMPACT will create youth and young adult interfaith thinkers through spoken word programming. These programs will provide young people with the capacity to advocate within their communities and beyond on issues of religion and values and the means to serve as decision makers in programming and policy matters. Components of the program include; network of faith-based career development and referral services for young people, celebrations and investigations of the role of oral traditions and spoken word in our lives, and spoken word programming to connect disparate elements of that movement including faith-inspired and visionary artists, hip hop activists, community organizers, etc. Students who are interested in this will benefit from the connection between faith and education. We've learned that the written word is not always the most effective way to communicate with the populations we serve. Interfaith programming that makes direct connection to oral history and spoken word will create a more equal environment for students who are less comfortable with the written word.
