“As a student debater, I learned the important disciplines of research, critical thinking, and persuasion, and I have applied them throughout my career.” Michael J. Critelli, former CEO Pitney Bowes, ALOUD Board member

NATIONAL CORPORATE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

THE CHALLENGE

High school success is an imperative in today's competitive global marketplace. Unfortunately, far too many high school students are dropping out of school and even more are graduating ill-prepared for college or the workforce.

OUR ANSWER

The Associated Leaders of Urban Debate (ALOUD) partners boost student achievement and promote college readiness.  We bring debate and youth expression to schools and community-based organizations  across the country.  We engage the students left on the academic sidelines first.  Their success is infectious and can build a debate culture in the entire school..

TRACK RECORD OF SUCCESS

Debate delivers dreams.  Our partner programs have been honored twice by the White House in the last four years.  The successes are chronicled in local and national media including the NY Times, US News & World Report and on CBS’ Sixty Minutes.

Debaters receive millions in college scholarship offers.  They become leaders in their cities, and discover that their voice matters.  Multiple national studies reveal that debate reduces academic suspensions by up to 50%, increases literacy rates by 25%, and reduces risk-taking behaviors (unprotected sex, substance abuse, etc) by almost 300%.  More incredibly, these changes are reflected by hard data in less than two years.

TOP COMPANIES BELIEVE IN DEBATE

In city after city, premiere corporations are discovering debate as a great way to support their communities, assist educators and build college readiness.  Whether it's volunteers, grants, employee matching funds or special events, these Fortune 500 companines and industry leaders believe in what debate can do.  Here is a sampling of cities and the corporations that support their debate work.

Some of the sponsors of debate in SEATTLE, NEWARK, FULLERTON and NEW YORK include:

Some of the sponsors of debate in KANSAS CITY, WASHINGTON DC, AUSTIN, BALTIMORE and MINNEAPOLIS include:

BENEFITS OF PARTNERING WITH ALOUD

Many corporations do not realize that the same great programs that they support in one city exist or are emerging in others. By partnering with ALOUD, your company has a great opportunity to do something good that's also good for business by associating with a wonderful program that helps out young people in communities where you are based.
