Tournament held in Xi'an, China

International Tournament Held in Xi’an, China
IDEA is thrilled to announce the first ever IDEA/NPDA-Sanctioned International Tournament, which takes place this winter in Xi’an, China! Serving in lieu of the 5th Annual International Parliamentary Debate Tournament Championship Series, this tournament promises to be a unique opportunity for high-quality competition, fertile cultural exchange, and all-around fun! Running from January 5th-8th of 2006, the IDEA/NPDA-Sanctioned Tournament will occur on the campus of the prestigious Xi’an International Studies University. Participants will hail from both China and numerous foreign countries (including a large contingent from the US) and will compete in a minimum of six Parliamentary format rounds. As a spur to serious and productive debate, resolutions will center around the topic of the Environment, an ever-pressing and contentious issue in the contemporary People’s Republic of China.
The tournament will also feature ample opportunity for cultural exchange and site-seeing. Xi’an is a UNESCO world heritage site, and the famous “Tomb of Terracotta Warriors” – a buried monument of over eight thousand life-size clay soldiers dating from the 3rd Century BC – is nearby.
This is our message to America’s urban students:
Your Voice. Your Future. Debate.
